Loving Engineering provided civil engineering for a 17-unit residential greenfield development project that replaced four units for the Port Gamble S’Klallam Housing Authority. The project was funded by an Indian Housing Block Grant, 2060 funds and the Washington State Housing Trust Fund. The planning phase included a design charette hosted by Washington State Department of Ecology, with technical advisement by Loving Engineering. Civil design included utilities, new road construction, pedestrian access and site grading. Stormwater design included the use of both bioretention and pervious pavement in order to reduce surface water flows and maximize subsurface flows to the adjacent Little Boston Creek, which houses the Tribe’s fish hatchery. Construction management services were provided for two phases of construction, completed in 2010. The project was Certified Built Green Washington.

The Sustainable Native Communities Collaborative, which supports culturally and environmentally sustainable affordable housing appropriate to American Indian communities nationwide, highlighted the Teekalet project (Interview of principal located in video at 2:23).
